Job Summary

Senior Controls Engineer sought to lead development and implementation of advanced automation equipment across GE Appliances’ manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include supporting capital equipment procurement from concept to production launch; collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, lean, quality, EHS, procurement, operations) on new product introductions; providing control systems engineering on projects (general automation, conveyance, packaging, plastics forming, piercing automation); reviewing supplier hardware/software designs for standards compliance; updating GE Appliances standards; prioritizing safety with EHS; partnering with automation/robotics engineers on cost-effective solutions; supporting factory teams in implementing and troubleshooting new systems. Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience), 5+ years controls engineering experience with automated manufacturing equipment, and proficiency with Rockwell Automation tools (ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View) plus machine safety knowledge (ISO 13849, ANSI/A3 R15.06). Travel up to 25% is expected; on-site with potential for occasional weekend/on-call support. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, problem solving, and delivering maintainable control solutions in a large-scale manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent hands-on experience in technical/manufacturing disciplines
  • 5+ years of hands-on, relevant controls engineering experience with automated manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation ControlLogix/CompactLogix hardware & software, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View
  • Knowledge and practice of machine safety (ISO 13849, ANSI/A3 R15.06)
  • Automation integration experience
  • Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Travel (domestic and international) may be required in accordance with project requirements (25% of time)
  • TUV Certification in Machine Safety
