Job Summary
Own and lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and the maintenance of operational management accounts. Direct general ledger account reconciliation processes across the organization, serve as a strategic partner to Finance leadership on business plans, and oversee accurate records for profit and loss, taxes, and assets. Prepare special financial reports for executive leadership, design internal controls systems, and act as an advisor on global accounting trends and emerging issues. Lead and mentor a team of accounting managers while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international financial requirements. This role reports to the CFO within the Finance and Accounting team at Torc, a Daimler family company pioneering autonomous trucking software.
Required Qualifications
- CPA
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience leading or mentoring a team
- Demonstrated experience directing an operational accounting function with organization-wide impact
- Experience preparing financial statements and budgets
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with job cost accounting
- Experience with inter-company accounting
- Experience with vendor/customer reconciliations
- Track record designing and testing internal controls
- Experience driving process improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to advise senior leaders and translate financial data into clear business insight
- Strict attention to detail
- Sound judgment
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, robotics, manufacturing, or another engineering-driven technology environment
- Experience operating within a global, multi-entity, or parent-company/subsidiary reporting structure
- Experience supporting M&A integration
- Experience with large-scale ERP/financial systems implementations
- Experience acting as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on emerging accounting or regulatory issues
