Job Summary
Senior Control Automation System Engineer responsible for leading the design, implementation, integration, and validation of HVDC Control & Protection systems. Oversees HVDC SCADA/HMI solutions, drives engineering improvements, and ensures SQDC compliance. Provides technical leadership, mentors a global automation team, and owns HMI implementation and system deployment challenges. Manages budgets, supports tendering, and promotes common global processes and best practices. Requires hands-on experience with HMI software configuration (Zenon COPA-DATA or Panorama-CODRA), IEC61850 IEDs, Substation automation, and industrial networks; strong PLC/SCADA/DCS knowledge; capable of leading multi-discipline system integration projects; and familiarity with OT cybersecurity and functional safety concepts.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in industrial control systems, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, or a related field
- Strong background in HMI software configuration and implementation (preferably Zenon COPA-DATA or Panorama-CODRA)
- Proven experience in automation and control systems engineering with project leadership
- Experience configuring Substation Bay Controllers/Merging Units/IEC61850 IEDs
- Knowledge of industrial networks (IEC61850, Ethernet-based protocols)
- Experience in electrical design for industrial control systems
- Knowledge of security/hardening and cybersecurity best practices
- Familiarity with Layer2/3 protocols (IPv4, OSPF, LACP, DMZ, VPN/DMS/ADMS/DNP, IEC, Modbus)
- Experience related to electrical power systems and Substation automation
- Working knowledge of industrial and utility electrical control and protection systems and Digital Control Systems, Substation Automation and SCADA
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, DCS, Networks and related automation technologies
- Engineering leadership experience and cross-functional project leadership
- OT cybersecurity principles (IEC62443/NIST) and functional safety (IEC61508) advantageous
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects
- Project management skills
- Proven track record of delivering quality systems/components
