Job Summary

Review and draft sales contract terms to ensure alignment with risk guidelines and company strategy. Direct and participate in customer negotiations for domestic and foreign sales of complex industrial equipment and aftermarket services. Provide guidance to business teams during negotiations and conduct risk evaluations for assigned transactions to meet business objectives. Communicate contractual risks and seek approvals for deviations based on Solar's Risk Assessment Guidelines. Collaborate with internal sales, legal, and subject matter experts while interacting with external customer legal and procurement teams. Fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish. Full-time onsite role in Houston, TX; 5% international and domestic travel.

Required Qualifications

  • demonstrated record of interpreting, negotiating and communicating the substance of complex commercial sales agreements
  • ability to translate complex commercial sales agreements and related regulatory and compliance issues into appropriate risk management advice
  • ability to conduct a detailed review and analysis of sales contract terms and conditions
  • ability to advise internal clients of contractual risks
  • ability to draft and negotiate sales contract terms and conditions
  • ability to identify, communicate and seek approvals for deviations from standard risk positions based on Solar's Risk Assessment Guidelines
  • ability to negotiate with external customers to mitigate Solar's risk while preserving critical customer relationships
  • ability to review and draft contract terms and documents to ensure contract reflects agreed upon requirements consistent with risk guidelines
  • ability to provide guidance to business teams during contract negotiations to meet contract requirements
  • ability to conduct and communicate risk evaluation for assigned contract transactions
  • Knowledge of contractual and legal matters related to the sale of goods and services
  • ability to draft, evaluate, interpret and improve the language used in contractual agreements to mitigate risk
  • Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to various risks
  • ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations
  • Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis
  • ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information
  • Knowledge of effective self-management practices
  • ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities
  • ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with customers in a constructive and collaborative manner
  • ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision
  • Ability to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish
  • B.S., B.A. or equivalent, preferably in business or law
  • Experience in the oil and gas or power generation industries
  • Experience with complex domestic and foreign commercial agreements
  • International and Domestic travel up to 5%
