Senior Contaminated Sites Specialist

Job Summary
Provide senior technical oversight on complex contaminated sites assessment, remediation, and risk management projects across Western Canada, with particular focus on BC and Alberta. Lead development of site assessment planning, conceptual models, and technical solutions while acting as a Qualified Person to stamp and verify reports. Oversee project portfolios to ensure delivery aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and safety standards, identifying and mitigating execution risks. Develop and sustain strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor on strategy and compliance, supporting business development through proposal input and gathering client insights for strategic decision-making. Mentor team members, coach on competency gaps, and contribute to internal training programs to build technical capability. Represent MEMS as a technical leader through industry engagement and presentations. Primarily office-based with periodic field visits, occasional travel, and extended computer work.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of directly related experience in contaminated sites, hydrogeology, or environmental assessment
- Experience with site assessment on upstream sites considered an asset
- Bachelor's degree in hydrogeology, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline
- Eligible for registration with a relevant professional association
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to meet client site access requirements (including testing where required)
- Professional Designation in both BC and AB to meet requirements for Qualified Person (QP) designation
- Strong understanding of environmental assessment, remediation practices, and regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of the oil & gas, oil sands, and broader industrial/brownfields sectors
- Advanced ability to interpret and communicate complex technical data
- Strong collaboration skills in multidisciplinary environments
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and safe work practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and technical reporting
- Primarily office-based with periodic field visits
- Extended periods working at a computer
- Occasional travel and work outside regular hours may be required
- Physical requirements may include lifting (up to 30 kg), standing, walking, and site-based activities
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Designation in both BC and AB to meet requirements for Qualified Person (QP) designation preferred
