Job Summary
Senior Consultant, Public Affairs based in New York. Support and implement a wide range of strategic communication and issue advocacy campaigns for high-profile, globally-recognized clients. Design and implement multi-faceted, integrated campaigns to position client issues with audiences such as elected officials, media, and external/internal stakeholders. Create effective messages and high-quality written deliverables (issue backgrounders, press materials, messaging toolkits, social media content) often under tight deadlines. Develop advocacy content to explain complex policy issues to the general public. Demonstrate coalition-building and stakeholder management (including recruitment, engagement, activation; state-level advocacy with field-team management preferred). Support media relations (drafting op-eds, talking points, preparing for speaking opportunities, organizing press conferences). Monitor developments in key client issue areas and flag opportunities for engagement. Participate in business development (writing proposals, developing pitch decks). Requires 3-6 years of public affairs/issue advocacy experience and a Bachelor’s degree. Salary range $70,000–$90,000 with potential geographic adjustments. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 3-6 years of experience in public affairs, issue advocacy campaigns, earned media or political campaigns
- Experience with state and federal legislative, regulatory or issues-based campaigns and lobbying is a plus
- Strong writing and editing skills for backgrounders, press materials, messaging toolkits, and social media content
- Ability to manage multiple projects and client initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Experience developing strategies across industries including financial services, health care, food/consumer goods, technology, transportation, and energy
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills (phone, email, in-person)
- Ability to work independently and manage work streams; coalition-building and stakeholder engagement experience
- Bachelor’s degree; additional relevant certifications or advanced degree a plus
- Knowledge of media relations, op-eds, speaking opportunities, and press events
- Experience with business development activities (proposals, pitch decks) a plus
