Job Summary
Directs and coordinates field construction operations while administering prime contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders. Monitors overall design progress to maintain scope, budget, time, and quality balance, originating and responding to Requests for Information and submittals. Manages subcontractors and suppliers to enforce project QA/QC, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Works with the Project Manager to prepare schedules, status reports, pay requests, and weekly progress and budget management reports. Handles project setup, temporary facilities, and field document control, creating daily reports and taking progress photographs. Owns the Short Interval Schedule, updating it weekly with production data and the two-week work plan. Objectively assesses Physical Percent Complete status and communicates baseline milestones to stakeholders. Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures, and performs special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ten (10) + years' progressive experience in various aspects of the power delivery industry (specifically in the field)
- This would include, but not be limited to, hands-on construction, supervision, construction management, audit and inspection of substation and overhead transmission lines, scheduling, cost controls, safety, quality, and risk
- Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required
- Travel: Yes
- Percent of Time: Up to 85%
Desired Qualifications
- Strong experience with civil/earthwork and concrete construction
- A Journeyman Lineman or Power Systems Electrician with inspection experience
- Experience supervising a team
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or equivalent
- OSHA 30 training certification
- Experience with Procore, SharePoint, scheduling software (Primavera P6), and/or Project Management software(s)
- Experience with estimating processes
- Strong people relationship management skills
- Self-starter and strong organizational skills
- Strong problem evaluation / solving skills
- Strong team building skills
- Good understanding of the project design process for projects
- Understanding of integrated EPC and Design-Build processes
- Understanding of construction means and methods
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the design team and construction teams
- Strong management and communication (electronic, written, and verbal) skills
- Computer skills with knowledge and practical experience using MS Office and cloud-based program database entry
