Job Summary
Inspect heavy highway, bridge, and road projects daily to ensure contractors comply with plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Conduct site inspections of paving, drainage, and structural elements while monitoring work zones for MPT compliance and OSHA standards. Prepare daily inspection reports, maintain material logs, and document workforce quantities. Assist Resident Engineers by processing submittals, tracking pay items, and approving monthly estimates. Requires 5+ years of heavy highway experience, NICET III certification, and proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Based in New Jersey for state and regional agency projects.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction
- NICET III and above
- ACI Field Grade I
- NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists)
- Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator)
- Ability to read complex blueprints
- Strong written communication
- Familiarity with agency electronic record systems (Site Manager, CapEx)
- Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
- Reliable personal vehicle for travel to-from and on job site
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Efficient in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook
