Job Summary
Conduct highway and bridge construction inspections, perform material testing, and prepare daily narratives, special inspection reports, and unit price work documentation. Review plans for constructability, identify scheduling issues, and propose solutions to the Resident Engineer while communicating with contract staff and safety personnel. Maintain field records, prepare sketches, and manage project administration for contracts ranging from $500K to $5 million. This role requires a Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering, eight years of inspection experience, and rotating night/weekend shifts. Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
- Ability to read plans and specs
- Prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work
- Identify potential extra work, progress of project and scheduling issues
- Keep Resident Engineer advised of issues
- Propose possible solutions
- Prepare estimates of extra work
- Prepare related sketches and documentation
- Review plans for construct-ability
- Prepare comments
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum 8 years' experience inspecting construction work
- Ability to pass a Background Check for Aeronautical (air-side) access
- Valid Driver's license
- Trained in fall protection
- Trained in confined space
- Trained in permit required confined space OSHA regulations
- 30-hour OSHA construction safety training
Desired Qualifications
- ACI certified for concrete inspector-1 and Special Inspector
- Structural Steel Bolting and Welding qualification S-1, S-2
