Senior Construction Inspector I or II

Job Summary
Oversee construction inspection activities to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop drawings, and specifications by preparing daily testing and inspection reports. Review plans and specifications prior to duties, then perform, supervise, and report on frequency compliance while coordinating field tests using standard methods and properly calibrated equipment. Meet with contractor supervisors to coordinate testing and sampling, verify sample locations, and maintain effective relationships with internal and external personnel. Train less experienced workers, assist in planning inspection operations, and adhere to safety programs while managing company vehicles and tools. This role requires application of engineering principles, mathematical calculations, and the ability to travel to project sites in Arizona, with potential for irregular hours and overnight trips.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in roadway and related facilities, construction inspection or NICET Level IV certification in Transportation Engineering Technology (Highway Construction)
- Valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm's auto insurability requirements
- Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations using basic algebra (fundamental laws, algebraic expressions), geometry, and the trigonometric functions of right triangles
- Completion of Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to use nuclear gauges
- Completion of State specific Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) for applicable testing/sampling procedures (or ability to complete within 6 months of employment)
- ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1 certifications and trainings
- Thorough knowledge of highway construction plans, construction inspection procedures, and specifications
- Knowledge of materials used in highway construction and materials testing procedures
- Considerable knowledge of the State specific manual of Uniform Traffic control Devices or National Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices approved by the Federal Highway Administrator as the National Standard
- Ability to use hand tools such as sledgehammers, shovels, and picks
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, stop, and talk
- Ability to lift and or move 70 pounds
- Close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision and depth vision
- Flexibility to work irregular hours
- Ability to travel out-of-town/overnight to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations
- Ability to understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs
Desired Qualifications
- Senior Construction Inspector II: Generally, but not necessarily must have a minimum of 20 years' experience in roadway and related facilities, construction inspection or NICET Level IV certification in Transportation Engineering Technology (Highway Construction)
- Related experience and/or education may be evaluated to substitute for on the job experience
- Completion of Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to use nuclear gauges
- Completion of State specific Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) for applicable testing/sampling procedures (or ability to complete within 6 months of employment)
- ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1 certifications and trainings
- Related experience may be substituted with the approval of the client
