Senior Construction Engineer/Architect

Job Summary

Provide architectural and engineering technical support for VA EHRM construction projects, performing design reviews for concept through final submissions to verify completeness, accuracy, and code compliance. Conduct constructability assessments, review re-designs, and coordinate feedback from stakeholders including Construction Managers and Contractors. Evaluate schedules, budgets, and design feasibility to identify risks and recommend project impacts. Verify completed designs comply with VA standards and approved scopes, while reviewing construction documentation, inspections, and quality assurance records. Participate in project meetings to support issue resolution and prepare technical reports and correspondence. Full-time onsite work at an active construction site and office environment in Pittsburgh, PA.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience practicing as an Architect, Engineer, or Construction Manager
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing facility construction projects, including design coordination, construction oversight, schedule management, cost control, budgeting, and project execution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of field experience performing similar construction management responsibilities
  • Both design and construction experience
  • Ability to independently evaluate technical documentation, identify risks, and provide recommendations to Government stakeholders
  • Full-time onsite work at an active construction site and office environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment
  • Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of background checks and compliance with federal and VA suitability requirements
  • Must adhere to all site safety, security, and confidentiality policies

Desired Qualifications

  • Medical facility experience
  • Experience reviewing architectural and engineering documents for technical accuracy, constructability, compliance, and alignment with project requirements
  • Experience supporting facility construction projects involving design coordination, construction oversight, scheduling, cost management, and project execution
  • Experience with VA, DoD, Corps, GSA, or other federal construction programs
  • CCM, PMP, PE, Registered Architect, or equivalent professional credential
  • Experience supporting healthcare, federal, or institutional construction projects
  • Familiarity with construction practices, quality assurance, scheduling, cost management, and change management
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in administrative, financial, and compliance matters
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
