Senior Construction Accountant

Job Summary
Senior Construction Accountant position to oversee project accounting, job cost management, and financial reporting across multiple construction projects for a general contracting company. Responsibilities include maintaining project budgets and cost codes, tracking subcontractor invoices and pay applications, preparing owner billings and progress payments, performing WIP and percentage-of-completion reporting, accounts payable/receivable activities, reconciliations of GL/bank accounts, year-end closing coordination with external CPAs, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and payroll reporting where applicable. Requires strong construction accounting experience, deep knowledge of job costing and AIA billing, and proficiency with Procore/Viewpoint/QuickBooks Contractor Edition and Excel; CPA preferred but not required. Ability to work in office with occasional project site visits; capable of managing multiple fast-paced projects and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5–10 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, AIA billing procedures, retention tracking, and change order management
- Experience with construction accounting software such as Procore, Viewpoint, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, Foundation
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
