Job Summary
Senior Conceptual Designer (Contract) to research and develop original content ideas, design graphics and motion graphics, and write light copy for Wikimedia Foundation’s social channels. You will act as the creative engine behind all social graphics, translating complex knowledge content into engaging visuals, carousels, and captions. Responsibilities include ideation, copywriting, visual design, and production systems; collaborating with Brand Studio and Social Team to ensure brand-guided, platform-optimized content across global audiences. Required: 5+ years in social media content creation or related design roles, strong portfolio with social-first work, proficiency in Figma/Adobe Creative Suite, ability to work independently across time zones, and excellent multi-project management with a collaborative, curious mindset; remote-first environment with global teams and US salary-band guidance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in social media content creation, graphic design, motion design, or a closely related creative role
- A strong portfolio demonstrating both design and copywriting skills, with innovative social-first work front and center
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong eye for typography, layout, and visual hierarchy
- Proven ability to independently research, develop, and produce original social media content ideas with minimal oversight
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work on deadline
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with distributed, remote teams across time zones and geographies
