Senior Composites Design Engineer

Job Summary

Develop composite component designs and detailed engineering models while generating qualification, verification, and test strategies for advanced structures. Support material selection, structural analysis, and design justification activities, then review drawings and specifications for compliance. Lead development and qualification testing activities by collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and programme teams throughout delivery. Requires 10+ years of experience, BPSS security clearance eligibility, and a Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering. Located in Banbury with three days per week on-site.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ Years Experience
  • Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain BPSS clearance
  • On-site Requirement: 3 Days Per Week
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience
  • Significant experience designing composite structures and components
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods, and testing
  • Experience supporting qualification and certification activities
  • Significant experience designing and developing composite structures within demanding engineering environments
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and structural performance considerations
  • Ability to generate engineering analysis, design substantiation, and technical justification for composite components
  • Experience planning, supporting, and assessing qualification or development testing activities
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Highly motivated and capable of working independently while supporting wider project objectives
  • Collaborative approach to working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and programme teams
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset within fast-paced development environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using NX and Teamcenter within product development environments
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and engineering data interpretation
  • Understanding of polymer matrix composites, including resin systems and fibre technologies
  • Experience supporting composite qualification, certification, or production activities
