Job Summary
Conduct advanced prepreg layups, vacuum bagging, and autoclave curing of carbon fiber and hybrid composites for aerospace and motorsports applications. Execute structural bonding, precision trimming, and repairs using CAD models and engineering drawings while maintaining full AS9100/ISO traceability. Mentor junior technicians on layup sequencing and bonding procedures, support engineering teams on first-article builds, and drive continuous improvement through lean initiatives. Operate autoclaves and hot bonders safely, perform in-process inspections with precision tools, and ensure strict adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years' experience in composite manufacturing
- preferably in aerospace or high-performance applications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Extensive hands-on experience with advanced prepreg layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave/oven curing, trimming, bonding, and finishing in aerospace, motorsports, or high-performance manufacturing
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, ply schedules, SRMs, and manufacturing work instructions with minimal guidance
- Proven capability performing structural composite repairs—including scarfing, core replacement, patching, and reinforcement—using engineering-approved methods
- Advanced knowledge of autoclave, oven, and hot-bond curing processes, including proper bag setup, cure-cycle monitoring, and documentation
- Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and templates to meet tight-tolerance requirements
- Experience working with honeycomb, foam, and core materials, including cutting, shaping, bonding, and integrating core structures into composite assemblies
- Ability to mentor, train, and guide junior laminators in proper techniques, quality standards, and safety practices
- Strong collaboration skills with engineering, quality, planning, and leadership teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement
- Consistent ability to produce high-accuracy, high-quality composite components with exceptional attention to detail and adherence to AS9100/ISO standards
- Reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety, documentation accuracy, and meeting production deadlines
- Availability as needed to meet production requirements and timelines
- U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident
