Job Summary
Senior Composite Manufacturing Engineer at Candela to lead the transition of large-scale carbon fiber structures from R&D prototypes to high-quality serial production. Responsibilities include optimizing composite manufacturing methods (vacuum infusion, compression moulding, wet lamination), designing tooling and fixtures, creating detailed CAD documentation and ply-book work instructions, providing DFM feedback to R&D, establishing process controls for layup, curing, trimming, bonding, and assembly, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Hands-on shop-floor prototyping, first-article inspections, and validation of new materials are required. Qualifications include a Master’s or Bachelor’s in a relevant engineering field, 5–10+ years in composite manufacturing, CAD proficiency (Catia v5 / 3DEXPERIENCE), and strong collaboration and English-language communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering or an equivalent technical field with a focus on composites
- 5–10+ years of experience in composite manufacturing engineering, preferably within marine, automotive, or aerospace industries handling large-scale carbon fiber structures
- Deep understanding of composite manufacturing and repair techniques like vacuum infusion, compression moulding, wet lamination and bonding
- Experience in surface finishing processes like fairing and painting is beneficial (marine painting systems)
- CAD proficiency (Catia v5 / 3DEXPERIENCE preferred)
- ERP and/or PLM documentation management
- Hands-on engineering approach with ability to review 3D models and work on shop floor
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
- Form of employment: Full-time with initial 6 month probation period
