Job Summary
Senior Compliance Officer at the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in Wellington, NZ. Lead and enhance regulatory compliance, monitoring, and enforcement functions across environmental legislation; provide high-quality technical and procedural advice; conduct inspections and investigations in areas such as hazardous substances, ozone-depleting gases, and the emissions trading scheme; mentor team members, develop processes, and contribute to improvements of internal systems and processes; role supports regulated parties to meet obligations and ensure health and safety compliance. Not designed for full-time remote work; relocation assistance available for overseas moves.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in regulatory compliance and enforcement
- Experience applying legislation to dynamic situations to identify breaches
- Evidence collection and management to recognised standards
- Experience regulatory practices and responding to incidents, complaints and enquiries
- Understanding risk assessment in regulatory environment
- Strong written communication skills
- Experience leading complex investigations and enforcement actions
- Mentoring and developing others in regulatory practice
