Job Summary
Senior Compliance & Governance Accountant responsible for developing and maintaining finance accounting policies, delivering compliance training, and leading internal control and compliance reviews within a NSW public-sector context. Role involves CFO certification program leadership, managing evidence collection and audits, maintaining the audit management action register, collaborating with Central Agency Reporting and Operational Accounting, supporting continuous improvements in financial reporting, system migrations, and cross-functional projects. Requires tertiary accounting qualifications (or equivalent), CA/CPA or equivalent, and 3+ years of audit experience; strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and NSW Public Sector requirements; autonomous, detail-oriented, and capable of explaining complex financial concepts clearly.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline (or demonstrated equivalent experience)
- Professional accounting qualifications – CAANZ or CPA Australia or equivalent
- Over three years of audit experience (senior level)
- Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and pronouncements
- Experience with NSW Public Sector policies and statutory/legislative requirements
