Job Summary
Senior Communications Strategist to develop and execute strategic communications and earned media campaigns for NEA, focusing on electoral and issue advocacy, media relations, crisis communications, and executive messaging; responsible for coordinating, leveraging, and planning comprehensive communications strategies and campaigns, including media plans, op-eds, press statements, and ready-to-place quotes; build and sustain relationships with national media and stakeholders, guide leadership visibility, and ensure editorial quality across media products while supporting NEA’s mission and priorities. Requires exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and strategic counsel, with the ability to manage rapid-response efforts, travel as needed, and work within a fast-paced, high-exposure environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Information Science, Marketing, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in communications, journalism, political, or digital organizing is required
- Preference will be given to candidates with seven (7) years of professional experience
- A Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
