Job Summary
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and grinders while reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T to produce precision components within tight tolerances. Select tooling, establish offsets, and edit programs using G-code and M-code. Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections with micrometers and calipers to ensure quality standards. Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues to minimize downtime and conduct routine maintenance. Document production information and support less experienced machinists. This 2nd shift role in Birmingham offers $34-35/hr and includes health, vision, dental, and 401k.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds and speeds, and material properties
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, and ID micrometers
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
