Job Summary
Set up and operate multi-axis CNC milling machines and lathes with live tooling, reading engineering drawings and GD&T specifications to machine aerospace alloys like aluminum, titanium, and Inconel. Select, install, and maintain tooling and fixtures while performing in-process inspections with precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet tight tolerances up to 0.0001. Monitor machining runs, adjust parameters, and troubleshoot programming issues to maintain efficient workflows, collaborating closely with programmers. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. This role supports Inversion's mission to deliver next-generation reentry systems for space-based logistics and national security.
Required Qualifications
- Typically 3-5+ years of CNC set-up experience with 5-axis mills and CNC lathes
- Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, TNC-7, and Haas
- Proven ability to hold tight tolerances up to 0.0001
- Proficient in reading/interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
- Skilled with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.)
- Experience machining aerospace alloys (aluminum, titanium, Inconel, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented, enthusiastic, and eager to learn and grow
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
- This position requires in office presence
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience working with 3-axis and 5-axis machines
- Experience post-machining of additively manufactured components
- Experience machining aluminum, titanium and nickel alloys
