Job Summary
Set up, operate, and optimize CNC and manual lathe machines to manufacture precision components while reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T requirements. Select tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters to ensure efficient production, then perform setups, offsets, and program adjustments to maintain quality. Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments to hold tight tolerances, and troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime. Load and unload materials safely, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to meet deadlines. Mentor less experienced machinists as a technical resource.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10 years of CNC Lathe machining experience
- Extensive experience with machine setup, operation, tooling, troubleshooting, and process optimization
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and GD&T specifications
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment
- Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and perform detailed quality inspections
- Strong mathematical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and material characteristics
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to workplace safety
Desired Qualifications
- Experience machining plastics, composites, insulation materials, or specialty engineered products
- CNC programming and editing experience
- Punch Press experience
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
- Forklift experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
