Job Summary
Coordinate and integrate department services across intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and hospital-wide levels while planning qualified staff provision. Perform manual, semi-automated, and automated biochemical, hematological, microbiological, and blood bank analysis on patient specimens, recognizing abnormal and critical results to take appropriate action. Establish and maintain performance improvement and quality control activities, including proficiency testing, and provide orientation, training, and continuing education for staff. Monitor space and resource requirements, manage supply levels, and troubleshoot instrument operations. Functions independently to organize and prioritize work, adhering to safety and infection control guidelines. Requires a Bachelor's degree in laboratory technology, three years of acute care experience, and a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license. Full-time 8-hour night shift. Hourly rate $55.12 - $90.95.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree Laboratory technology or related field
- 3 years Experience in an Acute Care Facility setting
- 1 - 2 years In a senior/ lead capacity or experience in a specialized area
- Prior experience to include: specialized and complex analysis, computer experience, quality control, calibration, QC evaluation, inventory control, preventative maintenance, and quality improvement
- Organization/time management skills
- Able to function independently and as a member of a team
- Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to understand, follow and successfully perform duties, including whole blood collection, and apheresis procedures, in accordance with administrative and clinical policies, regulations and procedures
- Knowledge of GMP (good manufacturing practice in accordance with FDA, AABB, and State requirements
- Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist - CLS California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or Clinical Laboratory Scientist Limited License
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year 1-2 year experience in tertiary healthcare
- Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Chemistry (ASCP) OR in Microbiology
