Job Summary
Respond to inbound calls on the Aboriginal Contact Line as the first point of contact for victims of violent crime, providing culturally safe, trauma-informed support to individuals and families. Work within a team to deliver first-contact resolution, maintaining professionalism and composure while meeting key performance indicators. Ensure all interactions are culturally respectful and appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, acting with integrity in sensitive environments. Availability includes standard 9:00am–5:00pm shifts aligned with Victims Access Line operations. This role contributes to improving outcomes for Aboriginal communities through Victims Services and the Aboriginal Contact Line.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in a culturally safe, respectful and appropriate way
- Ability to work in a culturally safe, trauma-informed way when providing services and support to victims of violent crime
- Availability to work between 9:00am–5:00pm in line with the Victims Access Line, including supporting the Aboriginal Contact Line which provides a culturally appropriate pathway for Aboriginal clients
- Ability to maintain self-wellbeing in an environment that exposes staff to information that is sensitive and confronting
- Understanding of the needs, experiences and barriers faced by Aboriginal people accessing services
- Confirmation of Aboriginality form
- Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below: is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community
