Job Summary
Senior Claims Manager or Senior Consultant Claims Manager to lead a portfolio of complex litigated civil claims in medical negligence, provide support and guidance to members throughout the claims process, proactively formulate claims management strategies to achieve the best outcomes, and present evidence-based settlement and reserve proposals with reference to breach, causation and quantum. Collaborate with Solicitors in supporting members through the claim lifecycle, review indemnity decisions, and contribute to Avant’s claims services and special projects. Requires tertiary qualifications in law or health, a practising certificate (highly regarded for solicitors), and at least 5 years’ experience in medical negligence claims, with strong understanding of health and insurance legislation and principles of breach, causation and quantum.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in law or health
- Solicitors with a valid practising certificate will be highly regarded
- At least 5 years’ experience in medical negligence claims, either in insurance claims management or law firm environments
- Strong understanding of current health and insurance legislation
- Strong understanding of breach, causation and quantum principles
- Demonstrated expertise in assessing damages in medical negligence claims
