Job Summary
Lead and oversee all on-site construction activities for wet utilities, drainage, and earthworks, coordinating morning foreman meetings and daily safety briefings. Supervise subcontractors to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and productivity while managing three-week lookahead schedules and resolving field issues. Monitor daily progress, validate installed quantities, and provide accurate field data for cost control and forecasting. Enforce safety policies, prepare Job Hazard Analyses, and ensure execution aligns with approved plans and methodologies. Maintain full-time on-site presence in Oshawa, communicating with stakeholders and documenting changes for change management.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of proven experience in heavy civil or infrastructure projects
- 5+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role on infrastructure projects
- Strong experience in wet utilities (storm, sanitary, watermain), drainage (culverts), and earthworks (cut and fill)
- Experience with both open cut and trenchless utility installation methods
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex site activities
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling and lookahead planning
- Solid knowledge of safety programs, hazard assessments, and safe work practices
- Experience working in active rail corridors
- Experience with Metrolinx Work Plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively address site challenges
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with a firm, results-driven approach
- Ability to work full-time on site in a fast-paced construction environment
- Full-time site based in Oshawa, Ontario
- Occasional travel to downtown Toronto office will be required for the duration of the project
Desired Qualifications
- CPKC corridor experience is preferred
