Job Summary
Senior Civil or Environmental Engineer sought to lead and contribute across multiple projects in WSP’s Earth & Environment team in MI (Holland, Lansing, Novi). The role emphasizes leadership of civil/infrastructure engineering efforts, including geotechnical design, earthworks, drainage and surface water management, landfill permitting and design, and related regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include guiding project teams, reviewing permit applications and design plans, managing budgets and subcontractors, pursuing new business opportunities, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring alignment with state/federal regulations. The candidate should demonstrate strong client-facing capabilities, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor staff, with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline
- 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in civil/infrastructure design
- Engineering license required (multi-state preferred)
- Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, design, permitting, and related regulations
- Proven leadership, QA/QC, and project-management capabilities
- Experience with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Occasional travel may be required
- Ability to mentor staff
