Job Summary
Senior Civil Engineer in Canberra leading civil design projects from concept through construction, coordinating inputs from roads, drainage, utilities and pavements, and ensuring buildability, safety and whole-life performance. Acts as a trusted advisor to clients and partners, facilitating workshops, de-risking decisions, and delivering clear, compliant outputs while mentoring junior engineers. Involves leadership across design management, site supervision and project delivery with opportunities to work on transport, defence and low-carbon infrastructure. Chartered status with Engineers Australia is preferred; willingness to obtain with support. The role offers domestic relocation support and exposure to projects across Australia, including Defence and DFAT sectors. Eligible for Australian Defence security clearance is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor to Masters’ level degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia (preferred) or willingness to obtain with employer support
- Experience in civil engineering projects within a consulting environment in Australia
- Strong client relationship management and project management skills
- Proficiency in design software such as 12D, Civil 3D
- Knowledge of local standards and codes (AS/NZS 3500, NCC)
- Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence security clearance (Australian Citizens only; PR/NZ Citizens/Visa holders not eligible)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across diverse sectors (commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure)
- Leadership, team mentoring, and collaboration skills
- Relocation support available (domestic)
