Job Summary
Senior Civil Engineer leads complex civil engineering projects from concept through completion, delivering technically sound solutions. Collaborates across disciplines, guides project documentation and design quality, ensures compliance with codes and regulatory requirements, engages clients and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle, mentors junior engineers, and supports successful project outcomes. Responsibilities include developing high-quality designs, specifications, reports, and presentations; leading construction administration activities (RFIs, shop drawings, field inspections); coordinating with project managers, clients, consultants, and internal teams to define scope, schedules, budgets, and execution plans; analyzing feasibility, hydraulic systems, flood risk, and environmental impacts; reviewing documentation for accuracy and QA; and applying Progressive’s Performance Based Design principles. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Professional Engineer licensure, 15+ years of post-graduation experience (or 10+ years licensed), experience with large-scale civil systems and infrastructure, familiarity with civil codes and QA practices, ability to lead documentation and agency reviews, and proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD. The role emphasizes mentoring staff, client coordination, and delivering projects across the nation in a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Professional Engineer licensure required.
- Typically 15+ years of post-graduation professional engineering experience and/or 10+ years of professionally licensed experience.
- Advanced civil engineering experience, including design of large-scale civil systems, transportation networks, water treatment systems, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering codes, standards, regulatory requirements, documentation practices, and quality assurance expectations.
- Experience leading complex project documentation, construction administration, field inspections, client coordination, and agency review processes.
- Proficiency with standard technology tools, search engines, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to balance stakeholder needs, make sound decisions, improve work processes, and mentor developing engineering staff.
