Job Summary
Senior Chemist to plan and conduct activities for new product development and maintenance/improvement of existing technology; plans and carries out technical work to support new technology, validates materials and processes, and ensures product performance during installation and end-use conditions. Directly supervises and mentors technicians; manages technical service requests; designs and carries out experiments in laboratory, fire-test-furnaces, and manufacturing facilities; maintains ISO 9001 / 2008 design/development compliance; maintains accurate records, communicates results to the Senior Research Scientist or department head, and travels (sometimes internationally) as needed. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Polymer Science (preferred) or Material Science, strong analytical skills, hands-on laboratory capability, and effective verbal/written/presentation communication.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Polymer Science (preferred) or Material Science
- Knowledge: College-level Organic, Inorganic, Analytical and Physical Chemistry; Material/Polymer Science desired
- Skills: teamwork, problem-solving, ability to supervise and mentor technicians
- Experience: Senior role indicated by title and responsibilities
