Job Summary
Senior Chemical Engineer role focused on collaborating with the sales team to develop markets and project opportunities; interfacing with clients to understand needs; developing a quantified customer value proposition for each project; reviewing client project specifications; designing pilot test plans and participating in pilot testing; managing proposal preparation; applying process optimization strategies including recycle/reuse/zero-liquid-discharge and resource recovery; performing heat and material balance, hydraulic calculations, and equipment selection; initiating technical data sheets for proposals and turnover packages; developing designs with other engineering departments; obtaining negotiated price quotations from vendors and handling communications until a project is awarded; preparing material cost estimates for thermal systems; providing support in technical clarification meetings with clients; preparing turnover packages for the project team; resolving budget conflicts; providing technical data to process engineers; collecting information from vendors on new equipment and technologies; participating in design validation including pilot and laboratory testing; completing post-contract engineering activities as needed; required skills include strategic thinking, multitasking, independent work, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and proficiency in MS Office and process simulation software; benefits include comprehensive package with PTO, holidays, and 401K.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in chemical engineering or related field
- 5-7 years of experience
- ability to think strategically
- ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- ability to work independently with attention to detail
- strong communication skills
- strong leadership skills
- proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- experience with one or more process simulation software programs
- coursework in process design, unit operations, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena
- mechanical aptitude/technical background
- public speaking experience
