Job Summary
Manage a large inventory of claims to evaluate compensability and liability, planning investigations to confirm coverage and determine damages. Negotiate settlements and reserves within prescribed authority, potentially attending arbitrations, mediations, or trials. Convey complex coverage information to insureds and partners while authorizing payments under assigned limits. Maintain accurate claim files and organize caseloads to ensure timely resolution. Requires a Bachelor's degree and 3-6 years of property and casualty claims experience. Works within significant technical complexity limits for the Specialty Human Services division.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Political Science, Pre-law, Paralegal or a related field or equivalent experience
- Generally, a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling
- Demonstrates strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures
- Maintains knowledge of industry laws and regulations
- Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize caseloads, ensuring timely resolution of claims
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and lead negotiations
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Associate in Claims (AIC)
