Job Summary
Senior CAD Drafter in AECOM Energy leading CAD and drafting design activities across energy projects (substations, transmission, high-voltage, civil/structural) with a design-team focus. Responsibilities include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, producing design models and drawings (single line diagrams, set-out drawings, secondary schematics), mentoring and guiding design staff, managing design milestones, ensuring outputs meet specifications and quality standards, and applying common data environments and CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Forma, Vault). Candidates should demonstrate leadership in CAD teams, collaboration across geographically distributed teams, and a strong emphasis on design excellence and safety. Flexibility for hybrid work from Sydney or Brisbane offices in Australia is noted, with the role offering hybrid work arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering energy related CAD designs across primary, substation, secondary, protection or related projects
- Experienced in developing concept designs to meet industry standards from scratch with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated experience in design drafting for High Voltage projects, ideally with 5+ years’ experience with Australian energy client standards
- Highly proficient with CAD packages (AutoCAD and MicroStation) and understanding of common data environments (ProjectWise EDMS, Autodesk Vault)
- Experience leading teams or team leadership skills for CAD teams is an advantage
- Excellent collaboration, communication and time management skill set
- Strong understanding of design standards, quality requirements and project delivery timeframes
