Job Summary
Senior C&I Automation Engineer responsible for leading electrical substation and power plant automation design, control, communication, and monitoring systems across Wind, Solar PV, BESS, and Hybrid Power Plants. Drive grid compliance strategies, industrial cybersecurity posture, and lifecycle value from development through commissioning and operations. Provide technical leadership on architecture optimization, review technical deliverables, support contractors and OEMs, and ensure alignment with grid codes, TSOs/DSOs, and international standards. Collaborate with OEMs, EPCs, system integrators, consultants, and internal stakeholders; participate in design reviews, engineering evaluations, RCA, and continuous improvement initiatives. Emphasizes expertise in PPC/HPPC, SCADA, PLCs/RTUs, substation networks, IEC 61850/60870-5, Modbus, OPC UA, and cybersecurity considerations to enable reliable renewables integration and grid stability. This hybrid role combines on-site and remote work within an international team, with a focus on delivering high-quality automation solutions and supporting the energy transition.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 8–12 years of engineering experience in electrical automation, relay protection, control systems, substation communication systems, renewable energy projects, power systems, or related industries
- Proven experience with Power Plant Controllers (PPC), Hybrid Power Plant Controllers (HPPC), SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, substation communication networks, and renewable energy asset integration
- Excellent understanding of grid codes, TSO and DSO requirements, ancillary services, control system architectures, communication protocols, and automation system testing and commissioning requirements
- Technical expertise in substation communication protocols and automation technologies, including IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, Modbus, OPC UA, and related industrial communication standards
- Strong knowledge of electrical automation system design, cybersecurity requirements, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support activities in compliance with regulatory and international standards
- Strategic and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to analyze complex technical and operational challenges and communicate decision-critical insights clearly and effectively
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, OEMs, consultants, utilities, and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and operational priorities simultaneously while delivering high-quality results in dynamic environments
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
