Job Summary
Senior Buyer leads tactical procurement activities to ensure timely material availability and support daily production requirements, managing hands-on supplier relationships, issue resolution, and continuous improvement within the buying process. The role serves as the primary escalation point for delivery, quality, or communication issues and provides guidance to Buyers. Key duties include executing daily purchasing, managing complex part families, overseeing PO lifecycle (placement, confirmations, changes, cancellations, follow-up), ensuring supplier acknowledgements and ship dates are reflected in ERP, monitoring MRP messages, and adjusting orders as needed. Collaborates with Strategic Commodity Manager to issue POs with Milacron Preferred Suppliers based on cost, lead time, and quality; investigates and fixes PO data. Manages supplier delays, quality issues, and advanced expediting; reviews supplier open order reports and coordinates with Supplier Quality on non-conformances and RMAs. Ensures data is loaded in JDE, debits memos are created when applicable, and evaluates supplier performance with Global Commodity Managers. Owns On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance, monitors inventory health, risks, and forecast accuracy; supports SIOP alignment and PFEP maintenance. Provides daily cross-functional communication on material status, supports ECO transitions, and resolves shipping discrepancies. Identifies process improvements in purchasing and expediting workflows, standardizes tools/reports, and contributes to supplier scorecards and corrective actions. Mentors junior Buyers and Planners and collaborates on category strategies with Strategic teams and Quality; requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of experience, ERP/MRP proficiency (JDE preferred). This is a salaried, full-time role within Milacron’s Supply Chain & Logistics function with a focus on procurement leadership and supplier performance.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree required
- 5–7 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong supplier management and tactical procurement experience
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (JDE preferred)
- CPM and/or APICS certification a plus
- Strong communication and follow-through skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and support less experienced team members
