Job Summary
Issue RFQs, RFIs, and purchase orders for the Project Procurement Group while coordinating daily activities, including setting up meetings and managing confidential matters. Provide frequent vendor expediting to verify manufacturing and shipping schedules, attend weekly shipping meetings to update project managers on order status, and maintain budget, invoice, and warranty reports. Negotiate purchase orders for complex fast-track engineered equipment and services to support project budgetary and schedule goals. Mentor and train Purchasing Agents and Buyers within the Project Procurement Group and Procurement Services Group. Requires international purchasing experience, proficiency in ERP and MRP systems, and 10-20% domestic and international travel.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in an industrial purchasing environment
- International purchasing experience mandatory, with keen knowledge of INCO Terms and export packaging standards
- Thorough understanding of standard terms and conditions of procurement packages
- Proficient with a typical ERP system
- Proficient with a typical MRP document control systems
- Proven ability to effectively negotiate engineered equipment packages
- Intimate working knowledge of market conditions for equipment and commodities in domestic and international markets
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Organized with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field of study
- Minimum of five years actual experience as a buyer, purchasing agent or in a position related to the procurement of engineered equipment or materials for fast track projects
- 10-20% domestic and international travel
- Ability to move around a project site, including climbing structures
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of ISO related requirements
- Practical knowledge of industrial product markets and suppliers
- Proficient with a typical ERP system, specifically SAP
- Proficient with a typical MRP systems, specifically SmarTeam
