Job Summary
The Sr. Buyer will be involved from project planning through to closing of purchasing packages, focusing on the acquisition of materials and equipment for engineering and construction management. Responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, providing oversight to other buyers, preparing bid documents, managing the bidding process, and ensuring compliance with specifications and contractual requirements. Required skills include a strong technical aptitude, familiarity with materials and fabrication processes, excellent communication abilities, and extensive experience in procurement and project management. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and at least 12-18 years of experience as a Buyer, particularly in large-scale projects.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification or trade qualification in relevant discipline
- Relevant 12-18 years+ experience as a Buyer
- High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
- Strong technical focus with a good understanding of engineering concepts
- Good understanding of procurement, contracting, pre-operational verification and commissioning methodologies
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent understanding of project execution, especially materials management and scheduling.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Buyer in local and international markets
- Experience working on large or complex projects
- Working knowledge of SmartPlant system (or similar) is advantageous.
