Job Summary

Senior Business Excellence Engineer (Orthopaedics) leads cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma to deliver measurable business results (cost reduction, quality, throughput, and lead time). Acts as project owner for medium-to-large capital and process-improvement projects, designs and implements visual factory solutions (kanban, visual metrics, standardized workboards), and supports site-wide deployment of 5S/6S and standard work. Uses CAD tools to support process design and creates technical drawings; coaches staff on Lean, Six Sigma tools, problem solving (A3, PDCA), and change management. Applies data analysis and root-cause investigation to drive corrective actions; facilitates kaizen events; defines KPIs (OEE, cycle time, first pass yield, scrap, throughput, safety metrics) and translates performance into action plans. Supports TPM/RCM principles and ensures control plans, training, audits, and governance sustain improvements. Primarily on-site in Raynham, MA with potential travel; role supports DePuy Synthes/Johnson & Johnson operational excellence initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 2+ years of progressive experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, operations improvement, and/or regulated environments
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from reputable certificate provider
  • Experience with visual management, value stream mapping, standard work, and kaizen events
  • Strong IT and data analytics capability with advanced Power BI skills; proven track record turning complex data into clear dashboards and actionable insights that drive continuous improvement and business excellence
  • Strong project management experience, including project charters, schedules, budgeting and stakeholder management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel advanced, PowerPoint, Word, Visio or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in data-driven problem solving and statistical analysis
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and change management skills; ability to influence at all levels
  • Preferred: Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
  • Practical experience with Lean and Six Sigma: 5S/6S, Poke Yoke, 8 Types of Waste, Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping and Control Charts
  • Experience with MES, ERP integration or process automation
  • Experience in regulatory environments (ISO, FDA) where applicable
  • Experience with effective stakeholder management
  • Previous experience in the specific industry (medical devices, consumer goods, automotive, aerospace, etc.)
  • Cooperation with Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that resources are available
