Senior Building Systems Technician

Job Summary

Design, write, and maintain computer programs for proprietary systems managing life safety, energy, and building automation. Diagnose and repair computer systems to component level while modifying network hardware and software to optimize performance. Lead a team of programmers by assigning project tasks, setting milestones, and ensuring coding consistency. Provide technical leadership and training to staff on system controls, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Create custom system configurations, install device drivers, and generate reports from equipment databases. Adjust schedule as needed for emergency recalls and work in environments with high noise, dust, and biological hazards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • three years of experience with building controls systems performing modification, adaptations, construction and design work of an intricate nature
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training
  • one year of programming experience
  • valid State of Oregon or Washington Drivers License
  • basic computer skills
  • general familiarization with MS Office applications
  • general familiarization with internet browsers
  • Must be able to adjust schedule as needed to minimize operation impacts to all OHSU missions
  • All Facilities Staff are subject to recall at any time in the event of an emergency
  • Must be able to climb a ladder repeatedly
  • capable of walking up to 2 miles per day
  • ascend and descend stairs
  • Must be able to work in and around high levels of noise
  • Must be able to work in and around high levels of temperatures
  • Must be able to work in and around dirt, dust, grime, odors, fumes, wet environments, poorly lit areas, biological hazards, radioactive hazards, moving machinery and confined spaces

Desired Qualifications

  • Formal training in management and communications
  • 4+ years Leading teams of technicians in installation and/or maintenance of CPU based Building Automation systems
  • 4+ years technical support of installations of Building Automation system networks
  • Basic familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Basic familiarity with using Oracle eAM
  • Valid State of Oregon Restricted Energy Electrician's License OR State of Oregon Electrical license
