Job Summary
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevator, life safety, and emergency power systems across the zoo. Inspect and service equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, and rooftop units while utilizing the BMS to monitor and optimize critical infrastructure. Respond to work orders and emergency situations, perform scheduled preventive maintenance, and document all activities in the CMMS. Escort vendors and coordinate with contractors while adhering to safety regulations and building codes. Requires 1 year of mechanical/HVAC experience, EPA 608 certification, and OSHA 10-hour training. Full-time role with 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM hours (Sunday-Thursday), starting at $24.79/hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Availability for weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency response
- 1 year of mechanical/HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment
- EPA Section 608 certification
- OSHA 10-hour certification or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing
- Ability to traverse zoo grounds on foot
- Exposure to mechanical equipment, chemicals, noise, dust, animal dander, and varying weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring schematics, and control sequences
- Technical understanding of both high and low voltage electrical systems and ability to use diagnostic tools for troubleshooting of equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient computer skills; ability to use CMMS, Microsoft Office, and BAS/BMS
- Effective communication skills
