Job Summary
Lead engineering design tasks and coordinate with CADD teams to develop plans, specifications, and estimates for preliminary and final design of steel and concrete bridges, walls, and minor structures. Identify technical requirements, implement engineering principles, and ensure quality control while interpreting design standards and codes to maintain compliance with contract documents. Participate in technical meetings to strategize solutions for complex problems, develop schemes for key project pursuits, and assist in construction by reviewing shop drawings and responding to Requests for Information. Requires a Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Iowa, 10+ years of structural/bridge design experience, and proficiency in software such as MathCAD, STAAD Pro, and Bentley/MicroStation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or greater in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Iowa
- Minimum of 10+ years' structural/bridge engineering design experience
- Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles
- Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, wall systems, and minor structures
- Design experience with the Iowa DOT Design Manuals, AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes and standards
- Proficiency in seismic and non-linear analysis as well as soil structure interaction analysis and post-tensioned concrete
Desired Qualifications
- Masters or PhD
- Steel plate / box / truss, straight / curved experience
- Proficiency in MathCAD, STAAD Pro, LPILE, LEAP Bridge software, MDX, Bentley/MicroStation products, Midas, LARSA 4D, or other equivalent engineering standard bridge software
