Job Summary
Senior Bridge Engineer position with DRMP in Tallahassee, FL, leading complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects. Primary responsibilities include developing structural calculations and drawings for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build, evaluating design alternatives, preparing technical reports, supporting construction phase activities (RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, problem solving), and mentoring junior engineers. Requires a PE/Structural Engineer license, a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering, and 10+ years post-registration experience in structural/bridge design with hands-on experience across reinforced concrete, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete, steel plate/box girder bridges, and related transportation structures. Preferred MPI: Masters (MSE/MSCE), Florida PE/SE certification, and familiarity with FDOT standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer
- 10+ years post registration structural engineering experience
- 15+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience (e.g., reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation-related structures)
- Experience using bridge design software (FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets)
- Proficiency with Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms
- Ability to do 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus
- Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- Ability to guide junior staff and participate in design and detailing of multi-discipline bridge projects
- Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus
- Experience with post-tensioning applications is a plus
- Experience with straddle bent design is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history
