Job Summary
Manage design and delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects for transportation clients including NYCDOT, MTA, and counties. Oversee preparation of construction documents, design calculations, and specifications while coordinating with internal teams and subconsultants. Supervise and mentor engineers and technical staff, providing technical guidance and project oversight for multidisciplinary teams. Communicate directly with clients presenting updates and address design needs, and lead technical delivery while supporting project schedules and budgets. Perform technical reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure successful project delivery, and provide technical support during construction to resolve field issues. This role operates on a four-day work week in the New York office.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- PE license
- 8–12 years of progressively responsible bridge and structural engineering experience
- Demonstrated expertise in bridge analysis and design using AASHTO LRFD and applicable industry standards
- Strong knowledge of NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYSTA, PANYNJ, and MTA standards, procedures, and design practices
- Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and structural analysis/design software such as STAAD, LEAP, LARS, and similar programs
- Experience leading bridge and structural projects from planning through final design and construction support
- Ability to serve as technical lead and provide engineering oversight on complex transportation infrastructure projects
- Experience reviewing design calculations, plans, specifications, and engineering deliverables
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineering staff
- Experience coordinating with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one prior to employment
