Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Bridge Design, the Senior Bridge Design Engineer will provide leadership and technical direction for highway bridge design, including structural analysis, load capacity evaluation, and preparation of tender plans and specifications. Responsibilities include reviewing tender submittals and shop drawings, coordinating bridge design work with consultants, providing technical guidance for construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridge structures, contributing to internal specifications, and advising on national codes and guidelines while liaising with permits offices for over-mass permit reviews. The role involves leading project teams, ensuring effective teamwork and performance, and supporting the development of standards and policies. Travel within the province is required and remote work arrangements within New Brunswick may be considered.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in structural design and/or structural engineering
- Minimum of ten plus (10+) years of progressively responsible structural and bridge engineering analysis, evaluation and design experience, including experience with the application of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and Commentary
- At least five (5) years of supervisory and design management experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or Registered as a Professional Engineer with a Canadian regulatory body
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- Written and spoken competence in English
