Job Summary
Senior BESS Technician responsible for commissioning, maintenance, and repair of battery energy storage systems. Requires technical certification, 5+ years experience, and extensive travel.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical certification or associate degree in electrical, electronics, or mechanical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in field service
- At least 2 years specific to BESS or related power systems
- Strong understanding of AC/DC theory, 3-phase power systems, and energy storage system architectures
- Proficient with test equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, IR cameras, etc.)
- Comfortable working on energized systems up to 1,000VDC / 480VAC
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
Desired Qualifications
- OEM certifications from BESS manufacturers (e.g., Tesla, Fluence, Sungrow, Powin, etc.)
- Experience with SCADA and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CANbus, etc.)
- NABCEP, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E certification a plus
- Familiarity with power plant operations, microgrids, or hybrid systems.
