Job Summary
Senior Backend Engineer to join Mercury’s product engineering group, collaborating with designers and product leaders to ship lovable fintech experiences. Role focuses on backend development with emphasis on product ownership, autonomous team collaboration, and architectural decision-making. The ideal candidate has 3-7 years of backend experience, is excited to learn Haskell, and is proficient in SQL, capable of shaping Mercury’s banking/fintech software for startups. Strong emphasis on building scalable, lovable products with cross-functional stakeholders, including engineers across Banking, Experiences, Expansion, or Risk groups.
Required Qualifications
- Has 3-7 years of backend development experience
- Knowledge of or excitement to learn Haskell
- Proficiency in SQL
- Empathizes with users and can translate user perspective into product features
- Has made architectural decisions in the past and can articulate tradeoffs
- Excellent communication and collaboration with peers and cross-functional teams
