Job Summary
Backend Engineer (Senior) to build the API-first backend and integrations for an AI-native B2B commerce platform. Responsibilities include developing REST and GraphQL APIs in Python, building Cloud Functions on GCP, integrating ERP/CRM and supplier APIs, modeling data in PostgreSQL/Firestore/BigQuery, implementing event-driven architectures with Pub/Sub, orchestrating workflows with n8n or Airflow, and integrating AI tooling (OpenAI, Anthropic) for data extraction, routing, and classification within production workflows. You will manage CI/CD with GitHub Actions and implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, while establishing AI-centric best practices, code reviews, and MVP-driven delivery. Bonus experience includes GCP services, Make, Flow/workflow tools, NoSQL/Firestore, Vector DBs, RAG, and Fine-Tuning. The role is based in Bielefeld, with a stack ownership mindset and direct impact on architecture and business workflows. Benefits include regular team events and a modern office in Bielefeld.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years backend development
- Strong Python
- Experience with serverless architectures (Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda)
- Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL
- REST APIs
- CI/CD pipelines
- GCP familiarity (preferred)
- Experience with LLMs and AI workflows
