Job Summary

Steer, build, and ship backend services for authentication, authorization, and identity systems supporting millions of daily users. Drive high-leverage projects that align with Reddit's IAM vision and roadmap while collaborating with product, security, and cross-functional engineering teams. Mentor technical contributors and coach others to ensure high uptime and strong performance across mission-critical infrastructure. Evolve your own technical and non-technical abilities through continuous learning and collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems
  • 2+ years focused on security-sensitive domains (IAM, Security, Privacy, or Anti-Abuse)
  • Technical understanding of core identity concepts
  • Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML)
  • Knowledge of session management
  • Knowledge of Authorization access models (ABAC, RBAC, ReBAC)
  • Experience with centralized authorization engines
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages (preferably Go)
  • Experience with essential cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, GCP)
  • Experience identifying and driving high-impact projects that align with the company's strategy
  • High empathy
  • Excellent communication skills
