Job Summary
Own architecture decisions for backend systems powering real-time data pipelines, order book updates, and market events. Design and maintain the API layer using GraphQL and WebSockets to serve web and mobile clients. Operate high-volume databases including ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, and Redis while optimizing query performance and caching strategies. Instrument services with metrics and alerting, then participate in on-call rotations to debug latency issues and ensure system reliability under load. Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers on serving analytical data via API. This role sits at the front lines of scaling the company to millions of users, building trading interfaces that move billions in daily volume.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of production backend experience
- ideally in TypeScript
- Strong experience with real-time systems: WebSockets, event streaming, pub/sub
- Deep familiarity with PostgreSQL and Redis
- Track record operating services at scale with high availability requirements
- Understanding of trading concepts: orders, fills, order books, positions, execution
- Experience designing APIs for latency-sensitive, high-throughput clients
- Solid debugging skills — comfortable with slow queries, memory leaks, performance profiling
- Remote position

Desired Qualifications
- ClickHouse or similar columnar databases a plus
- Experience with Kafka similar streaming systems
- Background in trading platforms, fintech, or low-latency applications
- Familiarity with DeFi or on-chain data
