Job Summary
Define and implement the vision for scaling backend infrastructure to support millions of users. Ensure platform stability and performance by setting up monitoring systems to react to issues as they arise. Work with product managers and developers to push out core chat features while mentoring and unblocking other engineers. Interview candidates and assist with hiring and onboarding new team members. This role is critical to shaping the backend infrastructure and ensuring a great product experience for users in Patio's private college community.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience scaling backends from 10k+ users to millions of users
- Experience using Postgres and optimizing database load
- Experience writing Javascript backend functions
- Solid understanding of best practices for both performance and security
- Reside in USA/Canada
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using AWS infrastructure (Terraform a plus)
- Experience using AWS infrastructure

- Familiarity with GraphQL
- Familiarity with React
